Knob and Tube Wiring
Let’s be honest, most houses these days were built decades ago. This means that most of these houses use Knob and Tube wiring. What is Knob and tube wiring? Well, Knob and Tube Wiring is was a way of wiring houses that was code during that time. Since then, improvements have been made which has given us Romex. Romex wiring is a little more protected than the Knob and Tube style giving a higher level of safety throughout your home. What we do is whenever we run into a situation of Knob and Tube wiring, we terminate the wires converting them into Romex wiring so that from that point on you have the current level of wiring accepted by Code.
LED lighting has come a long way since it’s first introduction into the home world. Most options now require very little modification to your existing light wiring. There are retrofit kits and new installation kits allowing you to get the light where you want it. LED Lighting not only runs cooler than halogen style lights, it also uses less power helping to reduce that electric bill from PG&E.
Let’s face it, not all electrical contractors are alike. Here at A&E Electrical, we always make sure our work is to code. However, if you had work done recently or previously and found that it wasn’t up to par with Code. We are happy to help you in correcting those issues so that you can rest easy at night knowing that your home electrical is up to code
